On February 10th, 1999, at 11:30 p.m. my sister, Jean, died one half hour before her 56th birthday. During her fight against breast cancer, she courageously volunteered to be part of a study on the drug tamoxifen. Although it was too late for Jean, there is evidence that the drug has been successful in treating and preventing breast cancer for many women. My family is thankful that Jean was selfless and brave enough to be part of this phenomenal breakthrough in the global battle against this dreadful disease.
Today I am grateful for the lives of all men and women who fight the battle against cancer. I pray that in your life time cancer can be eradicated, and the world can be cancer-free!

ditto.... I'm grateful for the time that we get to spend with those that receive the care for cancer and still seem to feel that their world is everything they ever wanted and could never ask for more. kisses and hugz aunt silvia <3
ReplyDeleteThank you to the staff who put together the activities for today; to Mr. Schupbach for the challenge, to Jenn who serves as our motivation, and to all of you who will be active "warriors" in the battle against cancer.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful that Mr. Schupbach opened many of our eyes to what cancer has done to people around us...tonight I will be playing for my Grandpa who is a cancer survivor.
ReplyDeleteMy moms mom had cancer and her grandpa did also those are the two i am playing for tonight.
ReplyDeleteseveral months before I was born, my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. He had had an operation before then, and it was extremely hard on his body. The Cancer treatment couldn't slow down the cancer though. His funeral was held the day of my birth. He never got to see his grandson. I never actually knew him, but the impact he made on the community he lived in was extraordinary. He was missed by both family and friends. I always wonder what life would have been like had I been able to know him. If I had had his influence in my life.
ReplyDeleteToday I'm thankful that my mom's cancer wasn't as bad as we thought and she is lucky enough to be alive!
ReplyDeleteYea my grandma had breast cancer and my uncle had cancer too so i know the feeling, but thank god that they were both detected early. They still here today. I think ima call them after skool today and let them know that I care and for awareness. Sorry for the loss Mrs. Hosch and Jenn you are truly an inspiration.

I am very Thankful for such a supportive community! Everyone was really nice and did a lot for my family I! I hope that one day I can help other just like I was helped!
ReplyDeleteI am proud to know Mr. Schupbach, who I thought was quite inspiring before I knew he had survived cancer, and all the more so because of what I discovered from his past. May God Bless those who are surviving, those who are battling, those who are in a place where cancer does not exist...
